23rd-Nov-2009 11:49 pm - Hong Gil Dong
alice [love hatter]

I really do wish i would have written about this drama earlier when i hadn't finished it yet when i didn't know how it all turns out in the end. And maybe it would have been better if i waited for a day or 2 before getting into this but here i am writing or well trying to write anyhow.

I've never been interested in watching korean historical dramas or have i really realized there are actually historical fusion dramas out there but Hong Gil Dong is one of those. The drama has little to do with history besides the clothes they wear but even that fact is questionable, there is the historical setting with the clothes, buildings, the kind the noblemen the bullied peasants but there are also sunglasses, smoke machines and disco lights in the brothel. The interpretation of the time is very free, the language is slangy the music is cool.
So those who are not interested in watching historical stuff like me it's rather a ease.

The drama itself is actually really funny but thats just partly because in between there is decapitation with lots of blood and then we are back to laughter. But i really really did enjoy this it was fun.
The drama is written by the Hong sisters the same ones who brought us the lovely "My Girl" and currently airing "You're Beautiful" (what is a cute and funny drama and if you still haven't started watching it then your so missing out).

Kang Ji Hwan is wonderful as Hong Gil Dong and he really makes the drama even more worth watching. So he really did impress me here and unlike after watching My Girlfriend is an Agent it's unlikely i will forget about him now. (he did have is adorable silly moments in that movie too tough)
I like Sung Yu Ri here a lot more than i did in Snow Queen but then again that drama wasn't that memorable or great itself. However her character reminds me a lot of Lee Da Hae's in My Girl.
Jang Geo Suk who in my opinion is always good to look at won't be pouting his lips here as he does in You're Beautiful (let's face it he is really adorable there) but here he is the gloomiest character around. He is a great actor even tough here at first he starts off a bit awkward. However along the way gets better and in the end it's his character who breaks my heart.

It was a good drama i had good laugh watching it even tough Im not happy on how it ended but it does not make it any less of what it was maybe it even makes it better. Also it has given me a push to check out more historical type of dramas. Hong Gil Dong was full of interesting characters, laughter, silliness but it was also serious and occasionally gross. Still it was the silly fun moments that made me like it and the serious ones that made me love it. Still I can not accept what he did, honestly it makes me a bit sick to think about it.

It's been a long time since I watched a taiwanese drama but a little time ago my friend started talking about "Easy Fortune Happy Life". I told her to not praise it because of my already heavy drama load but she would not just be quiet and honestly i had no other choice but to start watching it.
And after a few eps i started loving it.... or was it just Roy XD either way it's been along time since i am really looking forward for the next episode to see what happens next and to let's be honest get another glimpse at Roy.
Like any other, or at least the taiwanese dramas i have seen, the plot is a bit... well not believable but hey it's just a drama... however unlike the other ones this actually is not over the top silly. It's refreshing. And yes again and again i wonder how she can fall for Blue's character but well it's a drama, and you know the better guy rarely gets the girl (that being Roy then)
But there are times when i admit that the main characters go together and it seems to work. Even tough i mean Yan Da Feng is a ruthless character but at least he is not as terrible as his grandfather. But no-one can be worse in this drama than Yan Da feng's girlfriend... really i wish she could just disappear.
But really it's a good show :D ...and I'm glad that there are more episodes than 14 as it seemed to be at first.

I've also been enjoying watching "Take Care of the Young Lady". I've missed these kinds of dramas. Light and fun with cute butlers and lawyers and XD yeah i find myself crushing on the lawyer but what can i do when he is so cute singing out of tune :D
And i like the interaction of the main characters and Yoon Eun Hye acting as bitch (ok well there was Vineyard Man as well but i only survived like 2 eps with it).
Theres one thing i don't like about this drama.. most of the time... and that is Yoon Eun Hye's wardrobe... like umm what are those things she is wearing?! >_<

From Japanese dramas I'm watching Koishite Akuma these days.... and for some reason I really like it.

I was suddenly curious on what Yoon Eun Hye is up these days. She has played in 2 dramas that are high up on my kdrama list. It's been ages really when i really felt like wanting to see a kdrama (well besides the Hyun Bin ones)
But it seems there is one coming up pretty soon.

August 19 starts the new drama "Take Care of the Young Lady" starring Eun Hye and Yoon Sang Hyun (who i previously know from Marrying a Millionaire and I quite liked him there).

Right now the image what i get from this drama is that it will be funny. And that's what i have missed seeing in kdramas, them being light and funny.

Actually i have to say that there seems to be more interesting kdramas coming up or maybe even already airing. I haven't really looked into them properly yet because let's be honest I have too many dramas that i haven't finished yet and am still watching... or well should be watching to finish them.

alice [love hatter]

So Okay I've been thinking of doing this for some time now and finally i sat down and tried to write it down. Japanese and Korean movies that I have seen. I know I didn't get them all but i think i managed most of them. I tried to write down Singapore/ China movies as well.... but It's not going to work anytime soon. Over the Years I've seen many of them and now I don't even know where to start from. So I'll leave the few I had noted down on a movie list I had. I'll try to add the rest... or well some of the rest later.
And then there is so many of what I still haven't seen but want to. Sometimes it's just so hard to get your hands on to some movies especially if they are not translated. X_x

But anyhow here's a list: Alphabetical order ... mostly with english titles but some with original language. It's just how I've learned or knew the movies by. The movies that start with [the] are listed in the order of the next word.

Didn't list down anime except for 1 korean one since it's the only korean one I've seen. And did not list down drama movies, cause if i saw them then they are already noted under the drama and i pretty much see them as part of the drama.

alice [love hatter]
So recently I've been really loving this show. I just feel like it has gotten better from ep one and I kinda really enjoy watching this thing now. I wonder how this whole thing is going to play out in the end. Just 3 more eps to go. Anyhow i really love all the guys and I'm glad to see Yusuke's make-up is finally gone XD and that Kaname Jun finally appears more on the screen than just a minute per episode.

But what i really love is episode 8. It's just so made out of win. I'm a sucker when it comes to dress-up imagination scenes.

So witch version do you like best ?! :D
Ohh man they look so good on the gang version XD

*click for slightly bigger version*

And i think i've finally fallen for Mukai Osamu. I've seen him in so many dramas so far and I've always kinda liked him or find him to be nice but finally i really realized I like him as an actor enough to just start keeping track of where he will be next. I think it has a lot to do of his character here in Atashinchi no Danshi.
